My names Sarah Jenkins I am a designer maker from South Wales. In my practice I use wood I source from the Welsh valleys alongside a hybrid of metals and yarns to create furniture pieces. The wood I collect is from fallen trees and by doing this I am not damaging any trees or the environment and I believe I am giving the wood a new life, a new use and meaning.  All my pieces I make by hand and produce with no fittings into the wood. The designs I kept simple to emphasis this and display the woods natural beauty. This is the main reason I choose to work with wood because of the beautiful surface patterns the grain creates, the interesting barks and the detail and effects that can be created by nature. All this causes each piece of wood to be individual, making each furniture piece I make unique.
